“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
- Nelson Mandela
Without outside financial assistance, many of the kids at this orphanage will never attend primary school. In Tanzania, only 54% of children graduate primary school. The children here who are sponsored to go to school are very aware of the opportunity they have and, therefore, take their studies very seriously. They all enjoy going to school and are extremely eager to learn.
Sponsoring a child to go to school is a wonderful thing to do, but it is also a significant commitment that spans over the child’s primary school career. Education is an extremely powerful investment. It is the best way to break the cycle of poverty and to make opportunities available to these children that would otherwise not be possible. Unlike donating money to a charity, directly sponsoring a child allows you to form a personal and ongoing relationship. It also allows you to explicitly see the impact you have had. Sponsoring a child to go to school is a way you can have a massive impact on someone’s life. The child you sponsor could go on to do amazing things for their community or for the world.

How does it work?
Many children at Save Africa are sponsored to go to nearby schools. Approximately half of the children attend the Leganga government school, which is a ten-minute walk from the orphanage. Some of the other children attend either Amani Primary School or Hiradali Primary School. Both of these schools are private English-medium schools, meaning that all classes are taught in English. The children attend school during the day and return to Save Africa in the evening. All of these schools provide meals during the day.

Here are the annual fees for Amani School. The fees for other English medium schools in the area are approximately the same. There are three terms per year. Sponsoring a child to go to school is a wonderful thing to do, but it is also a
significant commitment that spans over the child’s primary school career. Most children will start school in class 1 and you will be responsible for paying the child's school fees until class 7. After that point, you may choose to continue to sponsor them through secondary school.
